Tinker, hack, and invent with Cyber Young

Rounding out our lineup today for Tinker, Hack, Invent Saturday is Cyber Young. Cyber was designed and created by several FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Techology) high school robotics teams. Look familiar? He threw out the first pitch at a Detroit Tigers game last August AND he’ll be returning to hurl a pitch on Tuesday, July 9, at Comerica Park. Let’s learn more about Cyber Young.

What will Cyber Young be doing during this weekend’s Tinker, Hack, Invent Saturday?
Students will be discussing how they designed him, and Cyber will demonstrate his throwing abilities.

What are some favorite making activities for FIRST students?
Students are involved in all areas of robot construction, including working with aluminum and polycarbonate materials, wiring, soldering, installing a drivetrain and sensors, and programming.

What other projects is Cyber Young and the FIRST students working on these days?
Cyber is getting spruced up for his repeat performance at the Tigers game, and his demo at The Henry Ford.

What’s one tool Cyber Young can’t live without?
Cyber has a microcontroller on board that needs to be programmed so he can be driven around and shoot a ball — so a computer to write the program is essential!
